One Room Challenge: Week 6 Semi-Reveal
/As the One Room Challenge 11PM deadline quickly approaches and I am currently blind-stitching a hem by hand, it feels like now is as good of a time as any to throw up a quick blog post with a progress update. You can visit One Room Challenge’s blog to see amazing transformations by people who have their acts together FAR MORE than myself. As an aside, each of my children arrived nearly one week late. I suspect my ORC finished product will be in the same boat. If you remember, here was the plan for the room..
And here’s where the room started off in the very beginning..
This was a shot from when we bought the house.. so all we were originally working with was the yellow.
And here’s another angle..
Here what the room looked like as the challenge began..
And here’s an update on how the room looks today, at the end of the six week challenge
Still missing curtains but LOVING this early 1800’s dresser!
A wider shot.. the picture above the bed won't stay.. but will for now
Sans hardware
Ok so they’re still missing hardware but how good do they look??!? Thought about putting the old hardware back on but SO excited for the new hardware (an unlacquered brass which I’ll age with a brass ager) that I don’t want to mentally ruin it. Nor do I want to chance scratching these painted tables, which have been curing for the past 72 hours. The short story on the tables is that they’re two sides of an antique vanity I found years ago (pre-kids) on Craigslist. My original intention was to strip the paint and stain them dark- but after seven years, the paint was stripped and only the drawers had been stained. I’ve been staring/glaring at them every morning and am so happy the ORC came along to motivate me to make some moves.
So that’s where things stand. Still waiting on hardware for the nightstands. I’ve cut the fabric for the curtains and curtain liners but apparently I have to blind-stitch the hems for the curtains so dragging my feet there a bit. Hopefully by tomorrow or Tuesday I’ll have those finished and up. Fingers crossed!
